Airbus CEO outlines plans for broad expansion in India; firm sees strong Q1 performance.
Airbus CEO, Guillaume Faury, unveiled the company’s expansive growth strategy in India, emphasising a diverse approach beyond commercial aircraft assembly lines. Faury highlighted the significant presence with nearly 5,000 employees expected in India by 2025.
Airbus focuses on establishing assembly lines for various aircraft models, including the C295 and H125, in collaboration with Indian partners such as Tata Group. In January 2024, Airbus Helicopters partnered with Tata Group to set up the country’s first private-sector helicopter manufacturing facility, bolstering India’s Aatma Nirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) program.
The partnership aims to produce Airbus’ popular H125 helicopter for domestic and international markets. Amidst strong Q1 performance, Airbus reported a nine percent increase in consolidated revenues, driven by higher aircraft deliveries. Notable orders include IndiGo’s purchase of 30 Airbus A350s and Air India’s plans for 40 A350s and 210 A320/321 Neos, signaling a burgeoning demand for Airbus aircraft in India.
