Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurates India’s second Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling system at Mundka-Bakkarwala on UER-II in Delhi.

Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrier-less tolling system at the Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II in Delhi. The system is India’s second MLFF installation, following the Choryasi Toll Plaza on the Surat-Bharuch section of NH-48 in Gujarat, which went live on May 1, 2026. The technology enables seamless toll collection without requiring vehicles to stop, using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and FASTag to process payments in motion.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning a broader national rollout covering 17 fee plazas across nine states, including Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Assam, with all targeted to go live by September 2026. A second phase covering more than 108 additional plazas is planned for completion by March 2027. The initiative aims to reduce queuing and delays at toll plazas, lower fuel costs and improve overall travel efficiency for road users across the country.
