BLR Airport unveils India’s first on-airport digital truck management facility, enhancing cargo logistics efficiency.

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) has taken a significant leap in cargo logistics by launching India’s first Airport Truck Management Facility (ATMF), developed in collaboration with Shell Mobility. The initiative comes in response to the growing truck movement resulting from the inauguration of India’s largest Greenfield Domestic Cargo Terminal at the airport.
Now fully operational, the ATMF handles up to 1,600 trucks daily and features over 250 parking bays. This facility introduces a tech-driven, paperless system that streamlines cargo movement, cuts congestion, and drastically reduces truck turnaround time—from four hours to just one. Notably, 78% of trucks now wait less than 20 minutes before accessing cargo terminals.
Key features include app-based approvals, digital check-ins via handheld devices, and 24/7 CCTV monitoring. In addition to improving operational efficiency, the ATMF emphasises driver welfare with clean dormitories, washrooms, food outlets, and resting areas, setting new benchmarks in cargo infrastructure and sustainability at Indian airports.
