Peter Penseel to lead Delta’s cargo division, departing Ceva Logistics, effective June 1.
In a strategic move, Delta Air Lines has appointed Peter Penseel as the new president of its cargo division, effective June 1. Penseel, a seasoned air cargo executive, will be stepping down from his role as the chief operating officer of the airfreight division at Ceva Logistics to take on this new position.
Penseel will be succeeding Robert Walpole, who has led Delta Cargo for the past three years. Delta Cargo discreetly disclosed Penseel’s hiring, confirming Walpole’s departure in February.
Having joined Ceva Logistics in mid-2020, Penseel brings extensive experience to his new role. Previously, he served as the vice president of cargo sales and network planning at Qatar Airways, the world’s largest cargo airline by volume.
Penseel’s departure from Ceva Logistics coincides with the recent acquisition of Bolloré Logistics by its parent company, CMA CGM. Although Ceva Logistics officials could not be reached for comment, it remains unclear if Penseel’s departure is linked to corporate integration.
With over three decades in the logistics industry, including roles at DHL Global Forwarding and UTi Worldwide, Penseel is well-equipped to lead Delta’s cargo division. Notably, during his tenure at Ceva, he spearheaded the launch of in-house cargo capacity through a partnership with CMA CGM Air Cargo.
Penseel, a native of the Netherlands, will be relocating to Delta’s headquarters in Atlanta, marking a significant transition in his career trajectory. His appointment underscores Delta’s commitment to strengthening its cargo operations and enhancing its position in the airfreight industry.
