Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) has partnered with Tata Motors to induct a new fleet of electric passenger coaches across major Indian airports, marking a significant step in the company’s push toward sustainable and low-emission airport operations.

The first two electric coaches were handed over at Tata Motors’ Lucknow facility on April 15, 2026, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the Chairman of the Tata Group. The two vehicles will be deployed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi as part of the initial rollout.
AISATS has placed an order for 21 electric airport passenger coaches in total, to be progressively deployed across its operations at Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram. Eight additional vehicles are scheduled for handover in the last week of April, with remaining units to follow in phased deliveries. This brings AISATS’ total electric coach fleet to 58 vehicles across its network, adding to the 37 already in service.
AISATS CEO Ramanathan Rajamani described electrifying the airside and landside transport fleet as a key pillar of the company’s sustainability roadmap, aligned with India’s net-zero ambitions. The new coaches offer zero tailpipe emissions, lower noise levels, and improved operational efficiency for airport operators.
The partnership brings together AISATS’ ground handling expertise across eight major Indian airports and Tata Motors’ proven electric vehicle credentials, with the commercial vehicle giant having already deployed over 3,000 electric buses across Indian cities.
