Moderna quadruples plastic pet supply production with Mecalux automation.
Moderna Products has significantly increased its production capacity by integrating an automated warehouse from Mecalux at its Izegem, Belgium plant. With the pet industry projected to hit $500 billion by 2030, Moderna aims to double its sales within five years. The facility, which manages over 1,500 pallets daily, supports the production and distribution of feeders, water bowls, and beds to over 79 countries.
Bart Bonte, owner and CEO, highlighted their commitment to advanced technology and eco-friendly practices, including a Green Pact and solar panels. The new warehouse, 40 meters high and 100 meters long, accommodates 12,560 pallets and utilises Easy WMS software for complete operational control.
Automation, featuring five twin-mast stacker cranes and a conveyor system, enhances safety and efficiency, aligning with Moderna’s dedication to sustainable and efficient logistics. This expansion ensures Moderna Products continues to lead in the pet accessory market, maintaining their commitment to quality since 1980.
