A delegation from the Office of the United States Trade Representative holds four days of discussions in New Delhi to advance the India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement.

A delegation from the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), led by the Chief Negotiator, visited New Delhi from June 1 to June 4, 2026 to advance discussions on the India–US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). The visit follows the Joint Statement issued on February 7, 2026, in which India and the United States agreed on a framework for an Interim Agreement regarding reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to the broader BTA negotiations. During the four-day visit, the two sides held discussions described as constructive and positive across a wide range of issues.
Topics covered during the engagements included trade in goods, non-tariff measures, customs and trade facilitation, economic security alignment and other areas of mutual interest. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to concluding a mutually beneficial agreement that strengthens bilateral trade and economic ties, with the engagements described as marked by a spirit of cooperation and pragmatism.
