Godrej Enterprises Group has introduced what it claims is India’s first Multi-Ion battery technology for electric forklifts.

Godrej Enterprises Group has launched what it describes as India’s first Multi-Ion battery technology for electric forklifts, introduced through its Material Handling Equipment business. The technology is designed to deliver a 25 per cent lower total cost of ownership, higher equipment uptime and cleaner industrial operations, with a battery built to last the full operational life of the forklift.
The Multi-Ion battery supports fast and opportunity charging, requires zero maintenance and eliminates rare-earth dependency. It delivers up to 5,000 life cycles, nearly 60 per cent higher than standard lithium-ion batteries, and is designed to operate reliably in ambient temperatures above 45°C, making it suited to India’s tropical climate.
The launch comes as India’s industrial and warehousing market continues to expand, with over 11 million square feet of leasing recorded across the top eight cities in the first quarter of 2026, driven by demand from third-party logistics providers, e-commerce and manufacturing-led supply chain modernisation.
The Multi-Ion battery has undergone more than 5,000 hours of real-world validation and carries a seven-year warranty. Anil Lingayat, Business Head of Material Handling Equipment at Godrej Enterprises Group, said the technology was aimed at delivering reliability, long-term value and sustainability as India’s supply chains grow in complexity and intensity.
