East Coast Railway (ECoR) breaks Indian Railways’ freight loading record for the fiscal year 2023-24, achieving an unprecedented milestone of 250 million tons.
East Coast Railway has surpassed all previous records of Indian Railways in freight loading during the financial year 2023-24. From April 1, 2023, to March 25, 2024, ECoR loaded an astounding 250 million tons of freight, surpassing the earlier record set in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Notably, ECoR has become the first zone to cross the milestone of 200 million tons of loading for the fifth consecutive time. This remarkable achievement is attributed to the exceptional performance of all three divisions of ECoR.
Khurda Road Division led the contributions with 156.17 million tons, followed by Waltair Division with 74.66 million tons and Sambalpur Division with 19.20 million tons. Despite various challenges, including the coalfields of MCL at Talcher and iron ore mines in Bailadila and Keonjhar District, ECoR has excelled through meticulous planning and coordination with government sectors and industries.
Under the leadership of General Manager Manoj Sharma, ECoR has demonstrated exceptional performance, with a focus on motivation, positive attitude, and continuous hard work. This achievement highlights ECoR’s commitment to efficient freight logistics and its pivotal role in India’s transportation sector.
