SHM Global has been recognised by the Indian Register of Shipping for developing the KISS 700 and PN95FA totally enclosed fire protected lifeboats in India.

SHM Global, a company operating in shipbuilding, ship management and maritime safety, has been felicitated by the Indian Register of Shipping at its headquarters in Powai, Mumbai, in recognition of the company’s contribution to advancing indigenous maritime capabilities. The recognition acknowledges SHM Global’s successful development of the KISS 700 and PN95FA totally enclosed fire protected lifeboats, indigenously designed and manufactured in India in collaboration with Palfinger Marine and backed by type approval certifications from the Indian Register of Shipping. The lifeboats are designed for tankers and built to SOLAS standards, representing a significant milestone in India’s self-reliance in critical maritime and offshore infrastructure.
Praveen K. Mishra, Managing Director of the Indian Register of Shipping, congratulated SHM Global on achieving full compliance with IMO requirements and certification within a short span of time, and encouraged other Indian manufacturers in the maritime sector to pursue IRS type approval to reduce reliance on foreign imports. T. Ghosh, Senior Principal Surveyor at the Indian Register of Shipping, said the project was complex as this type of lifeboat had never been built in India before, and that Saifuddin Hajee’s vision had brought the PN95FA and KISS 700 to life, with SHM Global’s capability and Palfinger’s technical partnership taking lifeboat design in India to a new level. Mohammed Hajee, Chief Executive Officer of Maritime Safety and Security at SHM Global, said the recognition reflected the commitment of the company’s teams in developing indigenous marine safety solutions in India. SHM Global currently holds approvals on eight to ten products across categories, with more in the pipeline.
