DPIIT and JKEDI sign MoU to enhance startup support, mentorship, and funding access in Jammu & Kashmir’s entrepreneurial landscape.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the region’s startup ecosystem. The agreement, finalised during the “Jammu Kashmir Konnect” program at JKEDI’s Baribrahamna campus, focuses on mentorship, funding access, and market expansion for startups.
Key stakeholders, including incubators from IIT-Jammu, IIM-Jammu, and Jammu University, attended the event. Discussions centered on policy support, infrastructure, and the impact of the JK Startup Policy, which has driven 250 new startup registrations, raising the total to 988.
JKEDI has conducted 601 Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs across educational institutions, significantly expanding outreach. The collaboration is expected to provide strategic growth opportunities, aligning with India’s vision of a developed nation by 2047.
