Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level meeting on June 18 to review the progress of expressway projects and the development of the industrial and defence corridors in the state. He instructed officials to complete the Ganga Expressway by December 2024 and develop an industrial cluster. He also emphasised the importance of better connectivity for accelerated development and highlighted the significant infrastructure work done in Uttar Pradesh in recent years.
Referring to Uttar Pradesh as “Express Pradesh” and mentioning that the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressways have already been dedicated to the nation, Adityanath stressed the need to connect the Bundelkhand Expressway with Jhansi and Chitrakoot. He also called for the planting of saplings along all expressways during Van Mahotsav and expedited the development of industrial clusters along the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressways. He mentioned that the land required for the Ganga Expressway had been acquired, and efforts should be made to make it available to the public by December 2024.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway construction and emphasised its importance for regional connectivity. He highlighted the investment of Rs. 21,000 crores in the Defence Corridor, with companies like Bramhos Aerospace, Bharat Dynamics Limited, and Emitech Electronics setting up units in different nodes.
