Commissioner of Customs unveils trade facilitation plans at ACAAI Western meet.

The Air Cargo Agents Association of India (ACAAI), Western Region, held a crucial meeting on February 28, 2025, at Hotel Kohinoor Continental, Mumbai, to discuss significant developments in the air cargo industry. The session, chaired by ACAAI Western Region Hon. Chairman Rajen Bhatia, attracted key stakeholders from the sector.
Commissioner of Customs Highlights Facilitation Initiatives
A key highlight of the event was a special address by Mr. Hardeep Batra, Commissioner of Customs—Export Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai. In his insightful speech, Mr. Batra emphasised the government’s efforts to enhance trade facilitation through digitisation and streamlined processes.
He highlighted the successful implementation of the E-office at the Air Cargo Complex (ACC) and announced that the E-Bond initiative would soon be launched by Customs, further easing trade operations. Additionally, Mr. Batra revealed that the government is actively working towards blockchain integration to bring all stakeholders onto a unified digital platform, ensuring enhanced transparency and efficiency in cargo movement.
To reduce dwell time and expedite export processes, he stated that he personally monitors the movement of export documents and cargo daily, reinforcing the commitment to smooth and timely cargo clearance.
Industry Leaders and Networking Opportunities
The meeting saw a strong turnout from industry professionals, including representatives from airlines, freight forwarders, and custodians. Mr. Shailesh Sharma, ACAAI Hon. Secretary, and Mr. Farokh Hansotia, Hon. Treasurer, expressed their appreciation to all members for their time and commitment to improving the industry.
The evening concluded with cocktails and dinner, providing ample networking opportunities for members, industry stakeholders, and Customs officials, fostering stronger collaboration within the air cargo ecosystem.
