Dutch envoy Marisa Gerards flags major maritime and agri-export trade ties between Kerala and the Netherlands.

The Dutch Ambassador, Marisa Gerards, has highlighted significant investment prospects for Netherlands-based firms within the Indian maritime industry. During a session at the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Cochin, she emphasised that the Kerala coastline serves as a primary hub for deeper bilateral shipping cooperation.
Gerards noted that Kerala’s position on international trade routes makes it an ideal partner for ventures in port development, logistics, and coastal connectivity. She also identified potential for synergy in agricultural technology and value-added exports, leveraging the maritime link between Indian ports and European gateways like Rotterdam.
Accompanied by Consul General Ewout De Wit, the envoy reaffirmed the Hague’s commitment to supporting India’s growth through sustainable infrastructure and knowledge sharing. Local industry leaders, led by chamber chairperson Raj Gupta, expressed interest in collaborating on maritime innovation and eco-friendly port technologies to transform these strategic discussions into tangible projects.
