Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, approves INR 1,742.11 crore for the construction of a 4-lane highway in Mizoram, aiming to enhance connectivity and road safety in Aizawl and Kolasib districts.
Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, has sanctioned INR 1,742.11 crore for the construction of a 4-lane highway on the N. Kawnpui (N.Mualvum) —Sairang section of NH-6 in Mizoram. Spanning 24.41 km, the project will be executed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode as part of National Highway (Original) — North East (NH(O)-NE).
Gadkari emphasised that the objective is to ensure seamless traffic flow while avoiding disruptions from local traffic in developed areas. The initiative aims to ease congestion in urban zones, enhancing overall road safety. Specifically, the strategic project seeks to bypass heavily populated areas in Aizawl, reducing congestion and improving road safety.
Additionally, it aims to shorten the existing National Highway by 25 kilometers, from Vairengte to Sairang, contributing to more efficient and safe transportation in the region.
