IndiGo Airlines has decided to temporarily suspend its Kanpur to Bengaluru flights for three months, effective January 1, 2024. This development has raised apprehensions among Kanpurites, particularly within the business community. The Merchant Chamber of Commerce, responding to the concerns, contacted IndiGo’s headquarters.
In a recent interaction, Mayank Khanna, Vice President of the Merchant Chamber, discussed the matter with IndiGo’s headquarters. According to the information provided, approximately 30 planes are already grounded due to engine-related technical issues, and an additional 30-40 aircraft will be grounded from January to March 2024 per the directives of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
This nationwide situation has led to the cancellation of over 30 flights. IndiGo assures that efforts are underway to increase the number of aircraft in its fleet. The airline hopes to restore all canceled or postponed flights smoothly if approved by DGCA from April onwards. IndiGo is actively arranging for leased aircraft and anticipates the delivery of its new aircraft to mitigate the impact of the current situation.
