On January 25, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, met with a Japanese delegation led by Dr. Masafumi Mori, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan and co-chairman of the Joint Committee Meeting for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National High-Speed Rail Project, in the presence of Hiroshi Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to India. Both parties discussed capacity development and technology sharing in the fields of sustainable transport development, alternative clean and green fuels, and the development of innovative transit technologies for passenger and cargo movement. The emphasis was on the India-Japan sustainable development initiative for India’s North-East region, as well as North-East Road Network connectivity improvement projects.
The meeting paved the way for India to strengthen its ongoing partnership and collaboration with Japan in order to find effective solutions to contemporary transportation and logistics challenges, based on both countries’ shared values and convergence of interests in strategic and economic matters.
