DP World has earned AEO-LO certification from CBIC, enhancing its logistics security and streamlining customs clearance in India for five years.
DP World announced that it has received the AEO-LO (Authorized Economic Operator for Logistic and Terminal Operators) certification from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). This certification, recognised globally under the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards, underscores DP World’s commitment to supply chain security and the efficient movement of legitimate goods.
The AEO-LO certification will streamline clearance procedures for DP World at all customs stations across India for a period of five years, enhancing its reputation as a reliable and secure logistics provider. “In today’s volatile environment of global trade, this certification will underline and enhance DP World’s credentials as a reliable and secure logistics provider with deep expertise in ensuring efficient cross-border trade,” DP World stated.
Rajesh Pandey, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone-II, Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House (JNCH), handed over the certification to DP World, represented by Akash Agrawal, Vice President of Freight Forwarding, India Subcontinent. The certification ensures secure multi-channel and multi-region cargo movement, benefiting DP World and its customers in countries with Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA) with India, such as South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
The AEO-LO certification also grants DP World access to direct port delivery (DPD) for import containers and direct port entry (DPE) for export containers, reducing turnaround times and facilitating faster movement of goods through customs stations in India. This is particularly beneficial for businesses involved in export-import activities, including freight forwarding and operations in free trade warehousing zones (FTWZs).
Overall, the certification provides numerous benefits, including faster cargo processing and clearance, deferred duty payments, and enhanced facilitation under MRAs, making it a significant milestone for DP World in its logistics operations.
