DP World, a global logistics major, and the Cochin Port Authority have entered into two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at propelling capacity and capability expansion at the Cochin Port in India.
The first MoU outlines DP World’s plan to implement Phase I of a Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) at Cochin Port, making it the first such development in Kerala co-located alongside a terminal. The second MoU focuses on enhancing cargo handling facilities at the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT)/ India Gateway Terminal, thereby increasing capacity and operational efficiency.
These agreements are set to significantly elevate trade possibilities for international and domestic businesses, expand markets, and bolster Cochin Port’s standing as a prominent port in South India along the west coast. The developments align with the vision of making DP World Cochin one of the best-connected terminals in the southern region of India. DP World currently operates five container terminals in India, strengthening its position in the country’s maritime trade landscape.
