JNPA and BCBA unveil customs training initiative to empower youth near Vadhavan Port with skills and job opportunities.

In a major step toward shaping the future of customs clearance professionals in India, Brihanmumbai Customs Brokers Association (BCBA), in partnership with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), launched a transformative training program for the upcoming Vadhavan Port. The program was inaugurated on April 16, 2025, at the BCBA Classroom in Mumbai, in the presence of senior JNPA and BCBA leaders.
JNPA Chairman Unmesh Wagh emphasised the port’s critical role in strengthening India’s trade, praising the initiative as essential to developing skilled manpower. The course was presented by Chaitaly Mehta, Chairperson of BCBA’s Training Committee, outlining a 100-hour, 4-week curriculum tailored to customs operations, documentation, and compliance.
Targeted at youth from Palghar and surrounding regions, the program includes meals, travel aid, hands-on laptop training, and a certification exam. The initiative is expected to generate thousands of jobs and build a workforce ready to support India’s growing maritime ecosystem.
