Maersk India, the Indian branch of integrated logistics firm A P Moller-Maersk, is set to initiate a dedicated weekly rail service catering to export reefers. This service will link Dadri in North India to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JN Port) on the western coast. The move aims to offer integrated solutions for customers by minimising touchpoints and providing a single window for managing inventory from empty pickup to vessel boarding.
Prajeesh Ravindranathan, Head of Cold Chain and Pharma, South Asia at Maersk, highlighted the need for streamlined operations in the evolving business landscape. The scheduled rail service, a first of its kind for export reefers, will enhance efficiency and simplify the process from inventory allocation to vessel onboarding.
