Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has officially launched five new logistics routes to boost supply chain efficiency and strengthen multimodal transport across the kingdom.

The routes link Arabian Gulf ports with central and northern Saudi Arabia, stretching toward the Red Sea and northern cross-border corridors. The combined rail-road network is built to smooth cargo movement between industrial zones and international shipping lanes, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Key hubs integrated into the network include the Riyadh Dry Port and cargo yards in Dammam, Jubail, Ras Al Khair, Al Kharj, Hail, and Al Qurayyat, serving as synchronised transfer points for high-volume exports such as petrochemicals and minerals. The initiative is aligned with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to position the kingdom as a global logistics hub through deeper road-rail integration.
SAR CEO Bashar Al-Malik stated that the routes will avoid the passing of multiple trucks from roads, improving safety and cutting carbon emissions, while cementing Saudi Arabia’s role as a strategic East–West trade corridor.
