NHEV and Transvolt Mobility ink MoU in New Delhi to roll out 1,000 electric trucks across India’s freight routes.

National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) and Transvolt Mobility have announced the deployment of 1,000 electric trucks across India, marking World EV Day 2025 with a significant leap in clean freight transport. The rollout follows a year-long technical and commercial trial that began in Chennai on World EV Day 2024.
Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), the tech piloting agency behind the initiative, had earlier introduced a ₹500 crore blended climate finance instrument to support truck deployment. Initially expected to fund up to 810 vehicles, the programme surpassed targets with 1,000 trucks confirmed for rollout.
According to Shri Sudhendu J. Sinha, Advisor at NITI Aayog, the response from Zero Emission Trucking stakeholders reflects strong policy direction, backed by recent PPP deployments and IFC’s $20 million equity investment in Transvolt Mobility.
The trucks, owned and operated by Transvolt, will serve freight routes, ports, mines, and construction projects. With costs projected to fall from ₹1.25 crore to ₹90 lakh, the initiative aims to reduce logistics costs by about 10% compared to diesel fleets, accelerating India’s transition to zero-emission transport.
