CWC celebrates 69 years of service, emphasising its role in modernizing logistics and warehousing for India’s economic growth.

The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) marked its 69th Foundation Day in New Delhi, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening India’s logistics and supply chain sector. Addressing the event, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi highlighted the sector’s role in economic growth and government initiatives such as the National Logistics Policy and PM Gati Shakti, aimed at reducing logistics costs to global standards.

CWC has played a crucial role in food security programs, including Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and PM-AASHA, ensuring efficient storage and transportation of essential commodities. Over the years, it has transformed into a comprehensive logistics service provider, operating over 700 warehouses with a capacity of 148.29 lakh metric tonnes.
The corporation continues to expand its infrastructure, investing ₹613 crore in FY 2023-24 and enhancing e-commerce storage capacity. Recognized for its excellence, CWC recently attained ‘Navratna’ status, reinforcing its contribution to India’s logistics ecosystem.
