The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) has named Turgut Erkeskin as its new President. With over 35 years of experience as President and Chief Executive of Istanbul-based Genel Transport, Erkeskin brings a wealth of industry knowledge to his new role. He previously served as the Senior Vice President of FIATA and was the President of the Turkish NGO International Transportation and Logistics Service Providers Association (UTİKAD) for more than a decade.
Erkeskin’s election took place during the 2023 FIATA Electoral General Meeting at the 2023 FIATA World Congress. He succeeds outgoing President Ivan Petrov, the Managing Director of Trans Express in Bulgaria.
Erkeskin has outlined a strategic vision for FIATA, emphasising values such as excellence, collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and responsibility. He envisions a logistics sector where streamlined processes and increased transparency drive global trade, economic development, and sustainability, strengthening FIATA’s role in shaping the industry.
