VOC Port becomes India’s first major port to surpass 1 MW in rooftop solar capacity with a new 400 kW addition.

V. O. Chidambaranar Port (VOC Port) has set a new benchmark by becoming the first major port in India to achieve over 1 MW of rooftop solar power capacity.
With the recent installation of a 400 kW off-grid rooftop solar system, the port’s total capacity now stands at 1.04 MW. The solar panels are installed across operational areas, port schools, parking zones, the wharf canteen, the marine workshop, and the training centre.
This milestone reinforces VOC Port’s commitment to sustainability and clean energy adoption in port operations.
