Partnership to build and operate an air cargo terminal at Long Thanh International Airport.
SATS and Vietnam Airlines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and manage an air cargo terminal at Long Thanh International Airport (LTIA) in Vietnam. This collaboration aims to enhance cargo handling infrastructure and support Vietnam Airlines’ plans to launch the country’s first all-freighter airline.
LTIA, located near Ho Chi Minh City, is set to alleviate congestion at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The airport will begin operations in phases starting in 2026, eventually handling up to 5 million tonnes of cargo annually by 2050.
The MoU also focuses on expanding ground handling cooperation and developing tailored logistics solutions. By combining SATS’ global expertise with Vietnam Airlines’ regional presence, the partnership is poised to improve operational efficiency and drive air cargo growth, reinforcing Vietnam’s role as a key logistics hub in Southeast Asia.
