A tech-based on-demand logistics firm called Porter has announced its international growth and entry into the UAE, where it will offer its intra-city logistics services in Dubai. The company will fill the gap in intra-city logistics needs in the area for small package delivery needs of both individuals and businesses by offering a tech-enabled platform to ensure hassle-free deliveries through its LCVs and 2-wheelers.
“We are pleased to open our first international market in the UAE. Given that Dubai serves as the centre of the world economy, we anticipate experiencing exponential growth in the industry, especially given the infrastructure and business-friendly laws that the area has to offer. According to Pranav Goel, CEO and co-founder of Porter, “this expansion will act as a catalyst in ensuring a holistic growth of the intra-city logistics ecosystem, contributing to the generation of employment opportunities for driver-partners, and offering affordable and effective solutions backed by technology to the customers.
Porter, which currently has more than 20,000 users, intends to invest $6 million in the UAE over the next three years. By March 2024, the firm also plans to expand operations in these locations, double the number of customers it acquires (to over 40,000), and triple the number of vehicles it has (to over 800). According to a statement released by the company, it plans to expand its business in the future by pursuing further intra-city logistics options.
“We are pleased with how our platform has been welcomed, and the lessons we’ve learned from the Indian market will help us grow more quickly in the UAE. Our approach addresses problems including low vehicle utilisation, a lack of the appropriate vehicle type, and excessive customer costs in an effort to improve system efficiency. Ankit Dwivedi, AVP, International Business, Porter, stated that this expansion should assist in offering a logistical solution for businesses as well as giving customers direct control over their delivery.
