DHL’s Logistics Trend Radar 8.0 highlights how AI and automation are transforming logistics jobs.
DHL Group has released the eighth edition of its Logistics Trend Radar, focusing on how artificial intelligence, automation and robotics are reshaping work across the logistics sector. The biennial report highlights technologies such as wearable sensors, remote operations, collaborative robotics and AI-powered workplace assistants, which the company says are helping create safer and more productive work environments by reducing repetitive tasks and supporting daily decision-making.
The report identifies Employee Belonging and the Augmented Workplace as key emerging trends, as staff increasingly work alongside AI assistants and digital tools. DHL said these changes will affect hundreds of roles across frontline operations, technical professions and knowledge-based functions, creating demand for new skills. Thomas Ogilvie, Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director at DHL Group, said the future of logistics would be defined not by humans versus AI but by how effectively organisations combine human expertise with capable technologies.
The report also flags responsible AI as a growing business priority, citing trends such as AI Ethics and Cybersecurity 2.0 as organisations embed intelligent systems into demand forecasting, inventory planning and transport decisions. Sustainability remains a core focus, with trends including decarbonisation, sustainable fuels, circularity and vehicle electrification reflecting continued efforts to lower emissions across supply chains.
