New infrastructure projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund to enhance storage, transportation, and processing of agricultural products in Maharashtra.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched over 7,500 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), worth INR 1,920 crore, in Washim, Maharashtra. These projects aim to bolster the agricultural supply chain by improving facilities such as warehouses, sorting and grading units, cold storage projects, custom hiring centers, and post-harvest management units. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the transportation, processing, and distribution capabilities of agricultural produce across the state.
In addition, the Prime Minister dedicated 9,200 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with a combined turnover of INR 1,300 crore, which will further streamline the supply chain by enabling farmers to better manage the logistics of getting their products to market. Modi emphasised the importance of these infrastructure improvements in increasing farmer incomes and reducing post-harvest losses.
As part of Maharashtra’s green energy initiatives, five solar parks with a combined capacity of 19 MW were also inaugurated, providing a sustainable energy source for agricultural logistics operations such as cold storage and processing centers.
