Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL) reports that it has finalized buying land at Dhanakya, close to Jaipur, and will immediately start building a new rail-connected Inland Container Depot (ICD). Along with five Container Freight Stations, this will be the company’s fifth ICD, bringing the total number of container terminals across all of India to ten. GDL has already invested Rs. 27 crores on the purchase of the site and will spend a further Rs. 50 crores on the initial ICD development costs.
The ICD, which would be situated next to Dhanakya railway station, will span 30 acres, have two rail sidings, and have a planned yearly capacity to handle more than 125,000 TEUs. This segment, which already has a double stack route, is being electrified.
In order to provide end-to-end multimodal services to the industrial districts of the Jaipur market, including Jaipur, Bindayaka, Dausa, Kolana, Sitapura, and Hirawala, the company will also be building an integrated warehouse complex and offering first & last mile road delivery. Various product categories are included in the target market, including artefacts, fine fabrics, ready-to-wear clothing, gems and jewellery, hand-knotted rugs, rubber-based prosthetics, food and beverages, agricultural products like guar gum, tobacco, minerals, cars, bicycles, machinery, and machine tools, among others.
“With the publication of National Logistics Policy by the PM, all the clearances would be under one roof and will enable us to develop this area as a multimodal logistics park and make it operational within the next 12 months,” said Prem Kishan Gupta, CMD of GDL. At important commercial and industrial hubs across India, GDL will keep building multimodal logistics parks.
He continued, “By offering integrated logistics services, continuing to expand our current terminals, and expanding our footprint in new geographies, GDL will be able to consolidate its leadership position in the sector for both domestic and international trade.”
