JSW Infrastructure secures in-principle approval for a multipurpose port at Murbe, Palghar, under PPP model.
The Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) has awarded a letter of intent (LOI) to JSW Infrastructure for the development of a multipurpose port at Murbe in Palghar. This project will be executed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model using the Design, Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (DBOOT) framework, according to JSW Infrastructure’s announcement.
The LOI, valid for 24 months with a potential extension, is subject to meeting specific conditions. The royalty structure, based on per metric tonne, will adjust every five years. The project is estimated to cost around ₹4,200 crore.
Strategically located near major highways and rail corridors, the Murbe port is expected to boost JSW’s growth plans, aligning with its target to expand capacity from 170 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 400 MTPA by FY2030.
