Cargo Insights successfully hosted the CargoNXT Conference & Recognitions on October 26, 2023, at the Gurugram Industrial Expo, Leisure Valley Ground, Sector 29, Gurugram, Haryana. This event marked a significant stride in exploring the potential and challenges of the cargo industry in India under the theme ‘The Future of Cargo Industry in India.’ The conference gathered industry experts and leaders to engage in insightful discussions and share their vision for transforming India into a global logistics hub.
The first session, titled ‘Ideas on Making India a Logistics Hub,’ was moderated by Keku Bomi Gazder, the MD and CEO of Aviapro Logistic Services. In his opening remarks, Gazder highlighted the urgency of making India a global logistics hub, citing its strategic geographical location and growing trade volumes.
Vipin Vohra, Chairman, Continental Carriers, emphasised the importance of Air Freight Stations in handling the increasing cargo capacity. He shared, “The rapid growth of cargo has outpaced the capacity of airports. With space becoming a premium, it’s essential for the government to encourage transshipment and ensure supportive policies.”
Sanjiv Edward, CEO, GMR Group, reflected on the collaborative nature of the logistics industry. He stated, “To achieve our vision of India as a logistics hub, collaboration and partnerships are key. Airlines, logistics service providers, and customs authorities must work together to optimise the flow of goods.”
Kamesh Peri, CEO, Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India, elaborated on the nuances of cargo terminal operations. He opined, “It’s not just about good infrastructure; it’s about making the terminal relevant to the industry. Everyone, from stakeholders to government bodies, should have a role and voice in its operations.”
Shailender Anand, MD, India & Director, Dubai, Pronk Multiservice India, delved into sustainable practices. He emphasised, “Sustainable packaging and responsible practices are the future of cargo handling in India. We need to adopt eco-friendly solutions to protect the environment.”
Suneet Gupta, VP Sales, Trade Facilitation, Kale Logistics Solutions, explored the transformative power of technology in logistics. He said, “Technology is the linchpin. Investments in IT, automation, data analytics, and blockchain can elevate India’s logistics industry to global standards.”
The session fostered an environment of collective brainstorming and innovation, laying the groundwork for India’s journey towards becoming a logistics powerhouse. Each speaker brought a unique perspective, collectively driving the industry’s evolution.
