The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has been working with farmers, exporters, and the processing industry to get high-quality produce exported from India. Its initiatives have managed to increase the exports of APEDA products to USD 19.7 billion by Q3 FY23 compared to USD 17.5 billion in the same period last year.
Other food commodities that have witnessed growth by Q3 FY23, compared to the same period last year, are cereal preparations and miscellaneous processed items (24.35 per cent), pulses (80.38 per cent), basmati rice (40.26 per cent), poultry products (91.70 per cent), and dairy products (19.45 per cent).
APEDA has organised many promotional conferences and meets in the past year to promote Indian food products. It launched an eight-day-long mango festival in Bahrain in June 2022 to display 34 varieties from many Indian states. It also planned an International Buyer Seller Meet, in association with the UT of Ladakh, to boost apricot exports from the region. Twenty buyers from India, the US, Oman, Bangladesh, and Dubai participated in the event.
The organisation has also identified 220 labs across the nation to provide testing services to many products and exporters.
