India’s seafood exports rose to a record Rs 72,325.82 crore, equivalent to $8.28 billion, in FY 2025-26, with total volumes reaching 19.32 lakh metric tonnes, according to provisional data released by the Marine Products Export Development Authority.

Frozen shrimp remained the dominant export product, contributing Rs 47,973.13 crore, accounting for over two-thirds of total export earnings. Shrimp shipments grew 4.6 per cent in volume and 6.35 per cent in value.
The United States retained its position as the largest export destination at $2.32 billion, though shipments declined 19.8 per cent in volume and 14.5 per cent in value due to the impact of reciprocal tariffs.
The shortfall was offset by strong growth elsewhere. Exports to China rose 22.7 per cent in value, the European Union posted gains of 37.9 per cent in value, and South-East Asia grew over 36 per cent, reflecting a clear shift toward market diversification.
On the logistics side, the top five ports including Vizag, JNPT, Kochi, Kolkata, and Chennai accounted for nearly 64 per cent of total export value.
