UltraTech Cement will expand its electric truck fleet to more than 600 vehicles by December 2026 to strengthen sustainable logistics. The initiative is expected to transport around five million MT of materials annually while reducing carbon emissions and diesel consumption.
UltraTech Cement Limited has announced plans to expand its electric vehicle fleet to more than 600 trucks by December 2026 as part of its efforts to decarbonise logistics operations. The company has signed service contracts with Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, IPLTech, Energy in Motion, Sany and their subsidiaries, along with third-party logistics providers, to deploy the electric trucks.
The fleet will transport around five million metric tonnes of clinker and other key materials annually across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha. According to the company, the fully operational fleet is expected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 117,000 tonnes while replacing the use of approximately 39 million litres of diesel each year.
UltraTech said the expansion builds on its earlier adoption of greener transport solutions, having introduced CNG trucks in 2021 and heavy-duty electric trucks in 2024. The company currently operates more than 850 green logistics vehicles, including CNG and electric trucks, across its supply chain.
UltraTech, which has a grey cement capacity of over 200 MTPA in India, said its electrification strategy covers logistics from mine-to-plant transportation to inter-plant movement of clinker and other key materials.
