Fresh Bus analysis of over 6 lakh passengers finds festive travel demand on high-demand routes 30 to 50 per cent higher.

India’s festive travel season is increasingly marked by concentrated passenger movement, with demand rising sharply before major festivals and shifting direction after the celebrations. An analysis by Fresh Bus of the travel patterns of over 6 lakh passengers across key intercity corridors shows that daily passenger volumes on high-demand routes are 30 to 50 per cent higher during the festive period than in a regular week.
Ahead of Dussehra and Diwali, corridors connecting major urban centres with Andhra Pradesh see a pronounced rise in outbound demand as working professionals and families travel to their hometowns. The return movement then builds sharply towards Hyderabad and Bengaluru after the celebrations. The strongest corridors include Hyderabad to Vijayawada, Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru to Tirupati, which also sees pilgrimage demand.
Mr Sudhakar Chirra, Founder and CEO of Fresh Bus, said demand builds sharply in the two to three days before a festival, adding that festive planning is no longer just about adding capacity. Evening departures are among the first to fill up. Fresh Bus has increased its festive inventory from around 30 buses last season to more than 100 buses this year.
