Air India has signed a 10-year FlytCARE agreement with Thales to maintain inflight entertainment systems across 57 widebody aircraft, covering repairs, spares, and logistics.

Air India has entered into a 10‑year FlytCARE maintenance agreement with Thales to support the inflight entertainment (IFE) systems on its widebody fleet. The agreement will cover comprehensive turn‑key services, including line maintenance, spare‑parts management, repairs and logistics, ensuring consistent and reliable IFE operations across 57 Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
Under the arrangement, a dedicated support for the AVANT Up inflight entertainment system ill be provided, which is being installed on Air India’s existing Boeing 777 and 787‑8 aircraft via retrofit, as well as on new 787‑9 and A350 aircraft. The maintenance will be delivered from Thales’ service facilities located at Delhi and Mumbai airports, enabling faster turnaround and streamlined support close to key hubs.
The AVANT Up system offers passengers a rich content library displayed on high‑resolution 4K HDR touchscreens, complemented by 60W USB‑C and USB‑A fast‑charging ports and the ability to pair two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. With this deployment, Air India becomes the first carrier in the Asia Pacific region to introduce Thales’ AVANT Up solution, reinforcing its focus on modern in‑cabin experiences.
Air India’s leadership has highlighted that maintaining maximum reliability and uptime for inflight entertainment is central to delivering a world‑class guest experience. The partnership with Thales, through the FlytCARE programme, is expected to enhance component availability, deepen technical support and strengthen the airline’s engineering ecosystem as part of its broader fleet‑modernization strategy.
