Truck rentals rose up to 4% on key routes as winter crops boosted freight demand.
Truck rentals on major trunk routes witnessed a strong rebound in January 2025, fuelled by improved cargo availability and a seasonal surge in winter fruit and vegetable shipments.
According to the Shriram Mobility Bulletin, the rise in agricultural produce arrivals significantly boosted freight movement, driving up transportation demand. This led to a noticeable increase in truck rental rates across key routes.
On the Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi round trip, rental rates for an 18-tonne payload vehicle climbed by 4%, while the Mumbai-Kolkata-Mumbai route saw a 3.7% increase. Similarly, rentals on the Delhi-Hyderabad-Delhi and Kolkata-Guwahati-Kolkata routes rose by 3.3% each on a month-on-month basis. The Delhi-Chennai-Delhi round trip also recorded a 2.4% hike in rental rates.
The rise in truck rentals signals a positive trend for the logistics sector, reflecting increased transportation demand and a stronger freight market outlook.
