India targets a 3.5x boost in organic exports, aligning with global standards.
India has set an ambitious goal to triple its organic product exports to ₹20,000 crore within three years, up from the current ₹5,000-6,000 crore. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted this potential at an event organised with FICCI, where he launched the eighth edition of the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP).
The revamped NPOP introduces farmer-friendly regulations, streamlined certification, and enhanced traceability systems, ensuring alignment with global standards. TraceNet 2.0, an upgraded platform for seamless operations, was also unveiled. Additionally, a dedicated NPOP portal and redesigned APEDA and agri-exchange platforms aim to bolster India’s organic sector.
Goyal emphasised the growing global demand for organic products, valued at ₹1 lakh crore, with projections reaching ₹10 lakh crore in coming years. He urged startups to drive innovation, ensuring India capitalises on this growth. The program strengthens credibility in organic farming and promotes sustainable practices globally.
