Government greenlights projects to enhance connectivity and spur economic growth.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned two significant railway projects totaling ₹6,798 crore. These initiatives aim to bolster connectivity, ease travel, reduce logistics costs, and minimise oil imports while lowering CO2 emissions.
The first project involves the doubling of the Narkatiaganj-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga and Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur sections, spanning 256 kilometers, while the second focuses on constructing a new 57-kilometer line between Errupalem and Namburu via Amaravati. Both projects are expected to be completed within five years and will create direct employment opportunities for approximately 106 lakh human-days.
These developments will enhance logistical efficiency, connecting previously unlinked areas and augmenting the existing railway network by about 313 kilometers across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bihar. The initiatives align with the Prime Minister’s vision of a self-reliant India and are crucial for promoting sustainable economic growth and improved infrastructure in these regions.
