Telangana explores dry port development in the Northern corridor under PPP mode to enhance exports.
Telangana is advancing plans to establish a dry port in its northern corridor through a public-private partnership (PPP) model to strengthen its logistics infrastructure and support industrial growth. This development aims to enhance the state’s export capacity, currently dependent on ports in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Feasibility studies are ongoing to evaluate the potential for additional dry ports in the state, with the goal of further boosting exports. While previous plans for logistics parks and container depots failed to materialise, the current government is prioritising the fast-tracking of the dry port project.
In 2021, the state had approved a 1,400-acre multi-modal logistics park near Nalgonda and proposed 10 more logistics parks, but these initiatives remained unrealized. Telangana’s logistics sector, however, continues to grow at 12 percent annually, reflecting the need for improved infrastructure to meet rising demand.
