Commerce Minister calls for engineering sector to lead India’s global competitiveness.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched EEPC India’s 70th anniversary celebrations, advocating for India’s transformation into a global engineering export powerhouse. At the event in New Delhi, Goyal unveiled the new EEPC India logo and underscored the government’s initiatives to enhance Ease of Doing Business through reduced compliance and decriminalised laws. Minister of State Jitin Prasada was also present.
Goyal urged the engineering community to drive resilient supply chains and high-quality production to support India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat. He praised EEPC India as a model for export councils, highlighting its vital role in sectors like mobility, capital goods, and steel. EEPC India’s ambitious target of $300 billion in engineering exports by 2030, he noted, reflects the determination of “New India.”
EEPC India Chairman Arun Kumar Garodia reaffirmed the council’s commitment to promoting India’s engineering sector through initiatives such as Bharat Mobility and the International Engineering Sourcing Show. He pointed to EEPC India’s role in supporting manufacturers, with FY24 exports reaching $109 billion, contributing significantly to the Make in India initiative and propelling India’s global standing in engineering.
