An MSC CEO-led delegation discusses maritime investments, shipbuilding, and logistics growth with Indian ministers.

A senior delegation from Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), led by Global CEO Soren Toft, along with Capt. Deepak Tewari, MD of MSC Agency (India), Tarun Kalra of MSC India, and others, met with Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and key officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) this week.
Goyal described the meeting as highly productive, focusing on India’s immense potential in the shipping and logistics sector. Discussions revolved around investments in inland container terminals, shipbuilding, maintenance, and container manufacturing.
Other key topics included deep-sea vessel partnerships and policy reforms aimed at enhancing India’s global maritime competitiveness while driving growth, innovation, and self-reliance in the sector.
MoPSW, led by Joint Secretary R. Lakshmanan, IAS, also found the discussions fruitful. The meeting covered potential collaborations in shipbuilding, shipbreaking, and cruise shipping, along with various other maritime aspects crucial for industry development.
