APEDA facilitates the first commercial export of one metric tonne of GI-tagged Rewa Sundarja Mangoes from Madhya Pradesh to the UAE, with farmers receiving Rs 150 per kilogram against a local market price of Rs 100 to Rs 110 per kilogram.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, facilitated the first commercial export of GI-tagged Rewa Sundarja Mangoes from Madhya Pradesh to the United Arab Emirates on June 26, 2026. The one-metric-tonne consignment was exported by M/s Salt Range Foods Pvt. Ltd. and sourced from M/s Seondha Farmer Producer Company Limited and progressive farmer Sonu Gupta of Govindgarh, Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh. The mangoes underwent grading, sorting and export-quality packaging at the APEDA-facilitated pack house of Trisagar Farmer Producer Company in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, before being transported to Varanasi Airport for onward air shipment to the UAE. A flag-off ceremony was organised on June 26, 2026 to mark the milestone, reflecting the collaborative efforts of APEDA, the Department of Horticulture of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, exporters, Farmer Producer Organisations, pack house operators and farmers.
The export has delivered a direct economic benefit to mango growers in the Rewa region, with the exporter procuring the produce at Rs 150 per kilogram against a prevailing local market price of approximately Rs 100 to Rs 110 per kilogram, representing a premium of Rs 40 to Rs 50 per kilogram. Rewa Sundarja Mango is known for its exceptional sweetness, rich aroma, fibreless pulp and distinctive flavour. The initiative is expected to encourage wider farmer participation in export-oriented value chains, promote adoption of quality production and post-harvest practices and pave the way for regular exports of the variety in coming seasons. APEDA has over the past several months worked closely with state government departments, exporters, FPOs, pack house operators and international buyers to establish the export linkages that enabled this first commercial shipment.
