India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has entered into a strategic collaboration with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) to elevate the country’s infrastructure and logistics sectors. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has declared that PM GatiShakti will evolve into a planning tool for the entire world.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) designates GSV as the central agency in India responsible for designing, developing, and delivering courses and curricula aligned with PM GatiShakti’s National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy at various centers across states.
Minister Goyal emphasised the significance of GSV, asserting that it will formalize the logistics sector by providing skill development and capacity building to logistics professionals.
GSV, under the leadership of Chancellor Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Railway Minister, will focus on tailoring programs for specific industries and sectors. The university aims to train 15,000 students for assured jobs in the aviation industry.
This strategic partnership, signed by Vice-Chancellor Manoj Choudhary of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and Joint Secretary E Srinivas of DPIIT, has brought together over 16 Central Ministries, including NITI Aayog and CBC. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya was inaugurated as a Central University in 2022, sponsored by the Ministry of Railways, with the objective of nurturing talent for the entire transportation and logistics sectors.
GSV will collaborate with the Logistics Division to create “knowledge centers” of PM GatiShakti across various states and institutions, serving as repositories for best practices, research, and innovation in logistics.
