Indian Railways has surpassed the milestone of 500 MT freight loading in the first four months of the current financial year (FY24), as per the Ministry of Railways’ announcement on Tuesday. During April-July 2023, the freight loading reached 507.7 MT, showing a growth of 1.23 percent compared to the same period last year. In July 2023 alone, 123.98 MT of originating freight loading was achieved, marking an improvement of approximately 1.5 percent over July 2022. Additionally, the freight revenue for July 2023 amounted to Rs 13,578 crore, a significant 3 percent increase from the earnings in July 2022. The Railway Ministry attributes this remarkable achievement to its customer-centric approach, ease of doing business, and agile policy-making.
