MoSPI’s April 2026 Flash Report shows cumulative expenditure of Rs 20.36 lakh crore across 17 central ministries with transport and logistics dominating the pipeline.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released its Flash Report on Central Sector Infrastructure Projects worth Rs 150 crore and above on May 25, 2026, covering data as of April 2026. As of that date, 1,981 ongoing infrastructure projects with a total revised cost of Rs 42.78 lakh crore are being monitored across 17 central ministries and departments through the PAIMANA portal. Cumulative expenditure on these projects stands at Rs 20.36 lakh crore, accounting for approximately 47.59% of the revised project cost. Of the total, 814 are Mega projects with a project cost of Rs 1,000 crore and above, carrying an original cost of Rs 31.63 lakh crore, while 1,167 are Major projects with costs below Rs 1,000 crore and up to Rs 150 crore, amounting to Rs 5.49 lakh crore. Approximately 801 projects, or around 40%, have achieved over 80% physical progress, while 277 projects, or around 14%, have crossed 80% financial completion. The Transport and Logistics sector accounts for the highest number of ongoing projects at 1,459, with revised estimates of Rs 23.34 lakh crore, followed by the Energy sector with 221 projects at Rs 11.30 lakh crore.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways leads ministry-wise with 1,137 projects accounting for 57% of the total count and a revised cost of Rs 10.81 lakh crore, followed by the Ministry of Railways with 260 projects at Rs 8.69 lakh crore. During April 2026, nine projects were commissioned across Housing and Urban Affairs, Railways, Power, Road Transport and Highways and Labour and Employment, including a flyover on the Nagpur-Raipur Road at Rs 758.4 crore, a power transmission system for renewable energy evacuation in Rajasthan at Rs 688.74 crore and the Jabalpur Sewerage Management and Treatment Infrastructure Project at Rs 362.31 crore. Additionally, 55 new projects were brought under PAIMANA monitoring in April 2026, including the Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase 3 at Rs 15,611 crore, the Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project of 1,200 MW at Rs 14,105.83 crore and the Development of Zaheerabad Node under the Hyderabad Nagpur Industrial Corridor at Rs 2,360 crore.
