Aviation Minister unveils plans to build 50 airports and position Delhi as a global hub in two years.

At the World Economic Forum 2025, Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced an ambitious roadmap for India’s aviation sector. The government plans to develop 50 new airports over the next five years and establish Delhi as a major international aviation hub within two years.
Naidu emphasised international collaborations to integrate advanced technologies and passenger services. The initiative aims to enhance transit networks, attract global investments, and address India’s rapidly growing air travel demands, which have contributed to its position as the third-largest domestic aviation network globally.
India’s strategic location between East and West further bolsters its potential as a global hub. The government is focusing on the hub-and-spoke model, fleet expansion, and infrastructure development, while actively working with key ministries to streamline operations.
Naidu also highlighted a roadmap for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), targeting 5 percent blending and producing 5 million tonnes by 2030. With robust planning and international enthusiasm, India is set to lead in aviation innovation and sustainability.
