Infrastructure growth under PM Gati Shakti and logistics policies could push India into the top 25 of the World Bank’s LPI by 2030.

India is on track to improve its global logistics ranking, with strong infrastructure development through initiatives like PM Gati Shakti and the National Logistics Policy. Currently ranked 38th in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI), the country aims to secure a top 25 position by 2030, according to a report by Messe Stuttgart India and EAC International Consulting.
The report, released ahead of LogiMAT India 2025, highlights India’s logistics market growth, projected at 8.8 percent annually, reaching $484.43 billion by 2029. Logistics costs, currently 13-14 percent of GDP, are targeted to drop to single digits by 2030 through infrastructure advancements.
Under PM Gati Shakti, 434 projects worth ₹11.17 lakh crore have been identified to enhance logistics efficiency. Multi-modal transport expansion, high-speed corridors, and advanced technologies are set to streamline operations, positioning India as a global logistics leader. Collaboration between the government and private sector will be crucial in achieving these goals.
